What we do
The mission of the UEF is the creation of a European Federation, a new one supranational institution with limited but real sovereign powers. A new institution is a political and constitutional choice that only governments, fully supported by citizens will take in a specific moment of our future history: for that reason the UEF has a multi-target activities.
In order to achieve this ambitious goal, the UEF sets specific objective that can lead to and bring us closer to the main goal and are always designed according to the historical and political moment of the European situation.
Example of those are the campaign
- for a Europe without national borders ('50)
- for the direct elections of the European Parliament ('60-'70)
- for the European currency ('80-'90)
- for a European Constitution ('90-2010)
- the active participation in the Conference on the Future of Europe (2020-2022), the implementation of its results (2023) the launch of a Convention for Treaty Reform (nowadays)
So UEF always tries to set up a coherent set of tools and initiatives that sections adapt to their local reality, to go out into the streets to talk to citizens and gather their support for our documents, to make interventions in the local and national press, public meetings with political forces and civil society, interventions in schools and universities, mobilisation of municipal councils, actions towards Parliaments and Governments.
TO FACE THE CRISIS AND CHALLENGES OF THE FUTURE, WE NEED MORE EUROPE NOW
TARGET GROUPS
Citizens
We raise citizens’ awareness of European issues and the need for European political unity through organized campaigns, public debates, conferences in schools and universities, seminars, street actions, and information stands.
We engage against nationalists and Euro-sceptics and explain and promote federalism as the way to organize European economic and political unity while preserving the diversity of European countries.
Political parties, politicians
We promote the European Federation among political parties and politicians at European, national and local levels through lobbying activities, public debates, and initiatives in European parliaments.
We contribute to the European political debate with our publications, policy briefs, websites, newsletters and press releases.
