PC 3 Webinar | The European Safe asset: the Spanish Initiative
UEF Political Commission 3 invites members and interested participants to a webinar dedicated to the Spanish Government’s proposal for the creation of a European safe asset.
The initiative, recently presented through a non-paper by the Spanish Government, aims to strengthen the international role of the euro and enhance the European Union’s financial capacity and economic sovereignty.
The proposal has significant political and institutional implications for the future of the Economic and Monetary Union. A common European safe asset could contribute to deeper financial integration, provide a reliable benchmark for European capital markets and reinforce the euro’s position in the international monetary system.
The webinar will offer an opportunity to examine the content of the Spanish initiative and discuss its broader political significance from a federalist perspective.
The discussion will be introduced by Francesco Mazzaferro and Ettore Dorrucci, experts in monetary and financial affairs with extensive professional experience in central banking.
The event is organised by the UEF Political Commission on Foreign and Security Policy, Defence and Cybersecurity, chaired by Stefano Rossi, as part of its work on strengthening Europe’s capacity to act and the international role of the euro.
