In recent weeks, the debate on European defense has gained increasing prominence in the political and strategic agenda of the European Union.

In a rapidly evolving international landscape—marked by the commencement of negotiations between Russia and the US without the involvement of Ukraine and the EU, and repeated criticisms by members of the Trump administration directed at the EU and its member states, along with a clear pro-extreme right-wing stance—the concept of a common European defense has transitioned from a mere aspiration to a concrete challenge that demands immediate attention.

This online event aims to evaluate the current state of European defense by examining both the technical feasibility of a common defense framework and the institutional aspects that could either facilitate or impede its development. With insights from former General Vincenzo Camporini, we will explore the necessary steps to establish an effective and credible European defense capability. The discussion will encompass the military and technical possibilities for achieving close European defense cooperation, as well as potential pathways to initiate an institutional evolution that would transfer power in military and foreign policy from the national to the European level.

Join us for an in-depth analysis of this critical issue for Europe's future security and a discussion on the pathways to a stronger and more autonomous Europe.
