New initiatives will connect UEF sections and members, strengthen cooperation and make expertise across the network easier to access

The Union of European Federalists has launched the Task Force on Capacity Building and Twinning, a new project designed to strengthen cooperation across the UEF network and support the development of local, regional and national sections.

By encouraging the exchange of knowledge, experience and good practices, the Task Force aims to build a stronger, better connected and more effective organisation throughout Europe.

Its work will focus on strengthening the organisational capacity of UEF sections, supporting the development of activities and membership, creating partnerships across national borders and reinforcing the European dimension of UEF’s grassroots action.

The Task Force is currently developing two main initiatives: UEF Twinning Sections and Connecting UEFers.

Building partnerships through UEF Twinning Sections

The UEF Twinning Sections initiative will connect sections from different parts of Europe, enabling them to exchange experiences, develop lasting partnerships and organise activities together.

Twinning can take place online or in person and may include joint debates, campaigns and public events, exchanges of resources and good practices, study visits, meetings between members and cooperation on shared European priorities.

The initiative will also provide mutual support to sections seeking to strengthen their local activities and membership.

Participating sections and their existing partnerships will be mapped, including possible connections between their cities. Sections will receive tailored assistance and a practical toolkit explaining how to establish and develop a successful twinning partnership.

A dedicated twinning session is being considered for the UEF Federal Committee meeting taking place on 20–22 November 2026. The session would offer sections a concrete opportunity to meet potential partners and begin planning future cooperation.

Local, regional and national sections can express their interest by completing the Twinning Sections registration form.

Sections are welcome to register whether they already have a potential partner in mind or would like support in finding one.

Connecting people, skills and ideas

The second initiative, Connecting UEFers, aims to develop a digital platform that will make it easier for UEF members across Europe to find one another, exchange expertise and collaborate on shared interests.

UEF brings together members with a wide range of political, organisational, professional and creative experience. However, members do not always have an easy way to identify others who share their interests or have the skills required for a particular campaign, event or project.

Connecting UEFers seeks to bridge this gap by helping members find federalists from other sections, identify expertise available within the network and develop initiatives across national borders.

The project, presented by Rémi from UEF France, is currently being developed in consultation with interested members and sections. A small working group will help define the platform’s specifications, identify the most useful features and explore ways to encourage active participation.

UEF members can contribute by sharing ideas, identifying the needs of sections, providing technical or digital expertise, supporting user experience and graphic design, developing communication strategies or testing the platform.

The Task Force welcomes the participation of UEF members and sections interested in helping shape these initiatives.

Together, we can make the knowledge, experience and creativity within UEF more accessible, strengthen cooperation across our network and bring the European federalist community closer together.
