4.7 The UEF Congress held in HAUE

The Union of European Federalists deposited the originals of its archives covering the years 1970-1990 with the EUHA between 1991 and 1996, under the terms of a deposit contract concluded on 16 August 1993 between the Union of European Federalists, in the person of its Secretary General Mr Gérard Wissels, and the EUHA, represented by the President of the European University Institute, Mr Emile Noël. The first two deposits concern the European Federalist Union (UEF) and the European Federalist Movement (MFE), while the third deposit concerns the European Federalist Action (AEF). A fourth filing, concerning the UEF, was also made in 2009.

The UEF fonds includes the documents of the UEF (1946-1959), the AEF (1956-1971), the MFE (1959-1971) and the UEF (1972-2005), including the proceedings of the international congresses, the minutes of the meetings of the governing bodies, as well as the correspondence and working documents of the national bodies (mainly the MFE/France, Europa-Union Deutschland and the Movimento Federalista Europeo) and the regional bodies.

Photocopies of documents from the Hoover Institution (American Committee for United Europe fonds) have been included in files UEF-95, UEF-96, UEF-97, UEF-129, UEF-176 and UEF-210. They are explicitly identified in the inventory.

In 2025, 5 boxes of documents from the Italian federalist activist Tito Favaretto, donated to the HAEU by his family, were added to the 'Favaretto - Manganaro' section.
