Foreign and Security, Defense and Cybersecurity | The PC3 Newsletter #1/2024
Dear fellow PC3 members,
Dear FC members
Here is a newsletter covering the pressing contemporary foreign and security issues. As you are aware, the situation in the Middle East has become increasingly alarming in recent hours. Similarly, the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war is escalating, intensifying discussions around the current military developments and their various political implications, including the need to support Ukraine's efforts.
I have enclosed some useful references to assist in preparing for our further reflections.
Kind regards,
Carlo Maria Palermo

The War in the Middle East
The War on Gaza, the fifth between Israel and Hamas, started a period of instability in the Middle Eastern region. The conflict, enduring in Gaza, with its well-known effects, has been expanded in southern Lebanon where the IDF are conducting wide operations against the Hezbollah militias.
The 1st of October, the situation became even more alarming: the Iranian leadership decided on a military response sending two waves of ballistic missiles to Israel, targeting military and civilian objectives.

The United States Presidential elections represent an historical challenge for world-wide politics and Europe.
