Europe Day 2025 – UEF Greece in Action for a Federal Europe
On the occasion of Europe Day 2025 and the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the Greek Union of European Federalists (UEF Greece) actively participated in and organized a series of events aimed at fostering European dialogue and promoting the vision of a united, democratic, and federal Europe.
Regional Dialogue Event in Florina
In collaboration with the Group of Active Youths of Florina – Europe Direct Western Macedonia, UEF Greece held the event “Dialogue in the Regions of Europe” on May 2 at the Youth Centre of OENEF in Florina. The discussion focused on the political developments within the European Union and the role of citizens in shaping its future.

- Mr. Vasileios Giannakis, Mayor of Florina
- Mr. Iordanis Banttis, President of the Amyntaio Municipal Council and member of the EU Local Councillors network
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Konstantinos Stergiou, Head of Europe Direct Western Macedonia.
UEF Greece Joins Europe Day Marches with Volt
UEF Greece members and activists took an active role in the Europe Day events organized by Volt Greece in Athens and Thessaloniki on May 9.
- In Thessaloniki, under the slogan “Let’s Walk Together”, the symbolic march began at the Zongolopoulos Umbrellas on the seafront and concluded in the city center.
- In Athens, the march started from Monastiraki Square and ended at Zappeion Hall, a symbol of Greece’s accession to the European Union.
Public Advocacy and Call for a New "Schuman Plan"
In line with these actions, UEF Greece board member Dimitris Papagelopoulos emphasized the need for a new “Schuman Plan” in his opinion article published in Parapolitika. He called for a common European defense and deeper political integration, highlighting the current geopolitical challenges and the growing public demand for a strong, democratic, and strategically autonomous Europe.
