The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella will be at Torre Pellice on Thursday morning 31 August - visiting the religious community of Waldensians and Methodists - to take part in the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the figure of Altiero Spinelli.
It will also be an opportunity to pay homage to a very significant 'first time': Altiero Spinelli's first speech as leader of the European Federalist Movement.

The President of the Republic will be the guest of the family of the Waldensian Mario Alberto Rollier in whose house in Milan on 28th and 28th October 1943 Altiero Spinelli, together with about twenty anti-fascists from prison and exile, founded the European Federalist Movement.

The afternoon will continue with a historical conference promoted by the Municipality and the Waldensian Cultural Centre Foundation. The conference, entitled "The Europe of Altiero Spinelli. The important legacy of a federalist", will take place at the Teatro del Forte at 4.30 p.m. and will see the participation for the MFE of Luisa Trumellini, National Secretary of the MFE and Libero Giuffreda, President of the MFE Regional Centre for Piedmont.
